Adding a third piece to your outfit pulls everything together in an almost magical way. It can elevate simple pieces into a creative look and transforms the ordinary into something unique. While jackets and cardigans do a brilliant job at this, they can be too warm for hot summers. That’s when I reach for a vest—the lighter weight, the better.

Artful Home always carries interesting vests, and the spring collection has a couple of beauties. I zeroed in on this Hanover Vest by Fenini because I had last year’s version, which coordinated with so many items in my closet.

This year’s linen vest has a fitted silhouette through the torso that rounds out at the bottom with a slight bubble hemline. I love the deep-V neckline, which helps balance my broad shoulders.

While it’s calf length on the model, it hits at lower calf length on my 5’4″ frame. It flows and swishes dramatically when I walk, which feels fun and theatrical and suits my mood perfectly.

It has ties at the back waist, which you can cinch or leave loose for more flow. Since I have a straight figure, I like it cinched to give me the illusion of having a waist.

The vest has very deep armholes, so I’m wearing the 3/4 Sleeve Essential Mesh Layering Tee by Cynthia Ashby. It gives coverage without looking heavy.

The front pockets have gray and white striped edging, which is repeated at the waist detailing in back.

Fenini makes clean, simple shapes with unique details that add creativity to your look. This vest is described as playful, and I have to agree. It’s fun to wear. And if getting dressed isn’t fun, what’s the point?
